Terms of Sale for Nucs & Packages:
Packaged Bees and Nucs and the risk of loss of the package and queen it contains or nuc become the responsibility of the customer at the time of pick up. Packaged Bees are guaranteed to contain 3 or more pounds (unless otherwise specified in product description) of bees when the package is prepared and will not have more than one inch of dead bees (when spread evenly across the bottom of the package) upon customer pickup. Once a package of bees becomes the responsibility of the purchaser, there is no further responsibility of Hungry Bear Farms, as the package was inspected at the time of pickup and found to meet the requirements laid out above.
If you find an issue with your Nuc, Hungry Bear Farms must be notified within 7 calendar days of the issue. It is Hungry Bear Farms policy that any Nuc that an issue is found in, be returned to Hungry Bear Farms in the same manner in which the Nuc was provided to the purchaser within 3 calendar days of notifying Hungry Bear Farms of said issue. It will be at the sole discretion of Hungry Bear Farms on how to address any issue outside of the policy laid out above. You understand that Hungry Bear Farms cannot guarantee the successful establishment of the package bees or nucs or queens. You agree that you will not attempt to hold Hungry Bear Farms responsible for whatever may happen to your package or nuc or queen after it is delivered to you or for the survival or productivity of the hive that you may establish from the package or nuc.
Queens are guaranteed to be alive upon pick up but are not guaranteed to be successfully introduced to or will be accepted by your hive. Many factors influence queen introduction success, particularly the specific methods and apicultural techniques you employ when introducing a queen. You also agree that Hungry Bear Farms will not be responsible for queen survival in your hive, or for the condition or productivity of your hive after introduction. Queens and risk of their loss become the responsibility of the customer at the time of pick up.

The bees were put in their permanent Langstroff within a day of arrival. I made the mistake of doing it while it was a little rainy and without a or bee suit. I was surprised at how docile they were! I only got stung 5 or 6 times and the first was the worst because I never pulled the bee out. By the end of the week they were pollinating and doing their thing. You can stand right next to them and they don’t mind. They only get a little pissed off when the temperature gets above 95 degrees or so since it is on the roof. During those times hundreds of bees are leaving and flying about to cool off. I can already tell that they are traveling very far and being on the roof helps guide them far. Let’s see how they do when it’s reaslly windy!

best bees around
Posted by Vincenza Marchese on Apr 2nd 2017
I purchased this last year and the bees were healthy and happy. They made me 17 lbs of honey in a single 8 frames hive. I was happy with that since it was my first year of beekeeping. The bees made it thru winter with the honey they stored as well as some extra honey that I was able to give them in February and March. I'm anxious to get my second hive up this year with this year's nuc. Next year two nucs!
